What is WML?

WML stands for Wireless Markup Language. It is a markup language defined using XML, and is used to produce web pages for mobile phones and other portables. Although WML can be compared to HTML, it is a mistake to think of WML as providing simply 'the Internet on a phone'. Given the limitations of mobile phones with regard to screen size and data entry, the web pages and applications developed with WML need to be tailored to mobile phone used.

In the same way that HTML page functions can be extended using JavaScript, WML page functions can be extended using WMLScript.
